White Watch Beaconsfield led by Crew Commander Andrew Holtzhausen, showed a new work experience placement student (Ashley), the water rescue unit. The duty crew talked through the water rescue equipment, procedures and gave Ashley a practical demonstration of its capabilities which Ashley thoroughly enjoyed. This was a great insight for into what we can achieve with the water rescue unit.
Ashley week was filled with visits to various departments and locations across the Service. We wanted to maximise exposure to a wide range of roles within our Service including:
- Firefighting techniques session at High Wycombe Fire Station
- Fire Service Drone Pilot Team
- Fire Investigation Team
- Information Technology Team
- Resource Management Team
- Urban Search & Rescue Team
- Community Safety Team
- Operational Assurance Team
Currently in year 10 at Cressex Community School in High Wycombe, Ashley requested to carry out work experience following his successful completion of Junior FireFit, a youth inclusion project run by High Wycombe Fire Station last year.
This is a great example of how we can engage, educate and influence young adults in an import stage in their lives through our innovative community safety projects.
