Our revised development centre process, introduced in 2013, follows a modular approach as detailed below:
We introduced the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) as the required standard to meet the technical knowledge. Candidates apply for and finance this themselves, with commitment from the Service to reimburse those whom succeed.
For practical assessments, leadership and management scenarios are used in conjunction with operational scenarios.
An appointments board is held following the development centres to review any current temporary arrangements and to identify any substantive opportunities.
